Hydrolux - New water-based automotive basecoat system now available

Cost effective, VOC compliant and compatible with Metalux 2

ChemSpec, the global paint company that is revolutionising the automotive refinish category, have just launched the Hydrolux range of waterbased toners. True to ChemSpec's philosophy of continual innovation, the range features several outstanding features that set it apart from the competition.

“By entering the waterbased category at this time, we have a distinct advantage over earlier systems. The raw material manufacturers have now developed superior products, which are featured in Hydrolux,” says Technical Director, Ralton Bentley. “Shelf life, drying time and temperature stability have all been improved over earlier waterbased systems”.

The latest raw material technology has enabled a surprisingly fast drying time that will astound even the most hardened critics. Unlike most competitive products, Hydrolux toners have an extended shelf life and are not affected by sub-zero temperatures - meaning there is no special requirement for temperature control in storage or the mixing room.

Specifically developed to address the latest environmental legislation, which has placed stringent limits on the emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOC's) into the atmosphere, Hydrolux comfortably complies with all proposed standards, whilst still maintaining superior performance and durability. The Hydrolux toners are VOC 3.5, and the clearcoat and primer are rated as VOC 2.1, and therefore comply with the strictest global legislation in force in California and parts of Europe.

The new Hydrolux toners are fully compatible with the professional Metalux 2 range. This means that they share all of the benefits of the fantastic Easimix Professional colour matching system, 12 000 colour chips and other colour tools. In total, Hydrolux has the ability to match over 100 000 colours from the world's car makers.

Compatibility with existing bodyshop equipment was a key component of the brief when designing this new system. After all, nobody wants to have to invest in new equipment just to comply with new regulations. Hydrolux is fully compatible with all of the equipment currently used with Metalux 2(booths, mixing machines, HVLP spray guns) and whether your job is a standard, edge to edge, or spot repair, no special techniques are required. A down-draught spray booth is recommended.

Hydrolux therefore provides the ideal technology for the bodyshop to evolve in line with environmental legislation, with the use of the system offering a staggering 80% reduction in VOC emissions.

Special effect colours are becoming more and more common, and Hydrolux once again excels in this regard. The special effect toners will be sold in small 500ml containers, meaning less upfront investment in your stockholding of these low-usage products.

The best news is that, like Metalux 2, the new Hydrolux range offers world-class quality at a truly remarkable price.
